While Hua Hin and Cha-Am beaches may be exactly what tranquil-loving vacationers are looking for, these coastal sand territories of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province largely owe their popularity to the construction of Marukhathaiyawan Palace by King Rama VI, right between the Hua Hin and Cha-Am provincial districts. The Cha-Am is roughly 160 kilometers South of Bangkok. The Hua Hin, on the other hand, lies further South about 25 kilometers from Cha-Am. In Cha-Am, there’s a real bus, although it only travels along the major road, the Phetkasem Road. The P1 type of bus is for long travels while the P2 type of bus is for short-distanced destinations like Hua Hin, Tha Yang and other neighboring districts.

There are numerous motorbike taxis in Hua Hin that will take you anywhere you want to go. But while the drivers are almost always wearing helmets, they don’t always have one for their passengers. If you’re willing to take the risk and are up for some adventure, go ahead and try the moto-taxis.

Moto-taxis are also innumerable in Cha-Am and they’re usually found hanging out in the beachfront. Some motorbike operators are also renting out motorbikes, but if you don’t know how to ride one, it’s probably best to consider other modes of transportation.

Bicycles for rent are available both at Hua Hin and Cha-Am. But again, if you haven’t tried biking before, you should forego riding one and choose another mode of transportation instead. In Cha-Am, car taxis are also plenty, so there are actually several types of transportations available for you to choose from.

By foot.

Getting around Hua Hin/Cha-Am can also be done by foot. In Hua Hin, restaurants, hotels, beach attractions and the beach itself are pretty close to each other so getting around the area on foot won’t really be too arduous. On the other hand, Cha-Am attractions are a bit spread out, so it might be a better idea to go on foot only when it’s very near. However, if you’re physically fit, don’t pass up a great opportunity to get a good feel of the district and its people by traveling on foot.
